Donating to Simama

At Simama, we understand that donations are personal and influenced by many factors including access to resources and the ability to give. We truly value each and every dollar we receive as we see the impact it makes on the lives of the children in Nanyuki. Donations are tax deductible and you will receive a receipt to use for your tax filing immediately after submission for electronic donations or after deposit of a paper check donation.

While we can’t tell you how much to give, we can tell you that 100% of your donation will go directly to the Simama Project in Kenya. Some common programmatic costs are included below as a guide but any donation amount is welcomed and greatly appreciated! 

• $500 – the average annual cost of one Community Sponsorship which provides a family in need with the financial and social resources needed to keep the kid at home and in school or send an additional one of their kids to school. 

• $1,000 – the average cost of one year of comprehensive educational support including providing one student with food, room and board, supplies and uniform and basic medical care. We combine this support with targeted tutoring, mentoring, healthcare and food support; providing the types of services that any child, anywhere in the world needs in order to be a successful student.

• $1,250 – The average cost of supporting a transition home child for one year which includes comprehensive educational support mentioned above plus specialized counseling, psychosocial support, and stability needed to transition back into a normal school schedule. 

• $3,000 - $5,000 – The annual salary range of a qualified, Simama-level staff social worker, house mother, teacher, or technical expert that implements Simama programs and provides services to Simama students.
