Donating to Simama
Many ways to make a difference
At Simama, we understand that donations are personal and influenced by many factors including access to resources and the ability to give. We truly value each and every dollar we receive as we see the impact it makes on the lives of the children in Nanyuki. While we can’t tell you how much to give, we can tell you that 100% of your donation will go directly to supporting the Simama Project in Kenya. Some common programmatic costs are included below as a guide but any donation amount is welcomed and greatly appreciated!
$500 – the average annual cost of one Community Sponsorship which provides a family in need with the financial and social resources needed to keep the kid at home and in school or send an additional one of their kids to school.
$1,000 – the average cost of one year of comprehensive educational support including providing one student with food, room and board support, clothes and supplies, uniform and basic medical care. We combine this support with targeted tutoring, mentoring, and counseling providing the types of services that any child, anywhere in the world needs in order to be a successful student.
$1,250 – The average cost of supporting a transition home child for one year which includes comprehensive educational support mentioned above plus specialized counseling, psychosocial support, and stability needed to transition back into a normal school schedule.
$3,000 - $5,000 – The annual salary range of a qualified, Simama-level staff social worker, house mother, teacher, or technical expert that implements Simama programs and provides services to Simama students.
How to Donate
We strive to provide as many donation options as possible for the convenience of our donors while also trying to minimize fees so that funds get the children that need them. We offer electronic donations through common platforms such as Paypal or Stripe and also accept paper check donations or direct wire donations.
Electronic Donations can be made by clicking on the Donate Now button anywhere on this site (and below). Donations are processed using either Paypal or Stripe and include quick, convenient additional options such as Venmo, Apply Pay, Credit Card or Bank Account/ACH.
Donations are made in US Dollars, tax deductible for U.S. citizens, and made directly to Simama International (EIN: 46-2721078) - a U.S. 501(C)(3) Charitable Organization as defined by the US Internal Revenue Service.

Paper Check Donations should be made out to Simama International and mailed to one of the two addresses below. Once received and deposited, Simama International will send a donor acknowledgement letter to be used for tax purposes if desired, so please provide a return address when mailing a check.
