Dr. Hareya Fassil joined the Simama International Board of Directors in early 2026 and brings a track record of shaping global health policies at the highest levels, building high-performing teams, and advancing sustainable, cross-sectoral strategic partnerships involving the U.S. Government, UN, and other multilateral agencies. As Senior Policy & Multilateral Advisor and Team Lead at USAID’s Bureau for Global Health (2013–2025), she led major policy, and multilateral initiatives involving WHO, UNICEF, NGO, and private sector partners, while also overseeing the management of a $500M USAID–UNICEF Agreement supporting multisectoral programs in low- and middle-income countries worldwide. In addition to serving as Vice-Chair of the Donors & Foundations Constituency of the World Health Organization–hosted Partnership for Maternal, Newborn & Child Health, she also served as the lead global health expert on the U.S. Government Delegation to the UNICEF Executive Board. Dr. Fassil also previously served in senior advisory capacities on the Boards of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, the Roll Back Malaria Partnership, and the UNAIDS Program Coordinating Board. and the WHO-hosted Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health. . A passionate advocate for the health, well-being, and education of children, Hareya Fassil  champions the active engagement of local communities in the design and implementation of development programs She holds an MPH from UC Berkeley and a DPhil from the University of Oxford. She shas consulted widely, lived and worked in several countries, and speaks Amharic, French, German, and Italian.
