Alfred Maina Njuguna currently manages the Simama Campus land and since 2020 has been building a sustainable, permaculture farm that will eventually grow to 10 acres and provide most of the food for Simama students.

Alfred was the inspiration for the Simama concept in 2011 when he became the first beneficiary of what would become the Simama Project and received a primary school student sponsorship. With the support of Simama, Alfred successfully moved his way up the Kenya school system to university where he studied agribusiness management at Cooperative University. During his studies, Alfred fell in love with permaculture and completed courses in advanced permaculture, land development and design, master composting, and the training of other permaculture trainers.

In addition to running the Simama farm, Alfred works also as a permaculture consultant at nearby Daraja Academy. He also runs a project that identifies big street boys of Nanyuki who never had an opportunity to go to school, tries to rehabilitate them, then equip them with skills so they can turn their life around and fit in the community.

Alfred is passionate about protecting environment and helping in mitigation of climate change through permaculture and giving opportunities to street families. He enjoys watching movies, playing football and spending time with the street families.
