Zipporah Watiri is a social worker at the Simama Project where she provides daily mentorship and guidance to students. She is also responsible for the Simama Project’s fundraising and donor relations strategy with a focus on supporting U.S. fundraising efforts and building a fundraising pipeline of Kenyan donors. 

Prior to joining the Simama Project in 2024 as an employee, Zipporah began her journey with Simama in 2018, receiving a Simama scholarship to complete secondary school. Upon completion of secondary school, Zipporah began giving back to the program by volunteering as a tutor during school holidays, supporting students in their academic journey. Zipporah also participated in the Simama Transition program, where she gained essential skills like first aid and computer literacy. 

In 2025, she joined Mount Kenya University, where she is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Education with the goal of becoming a teacher who not only teaches but also mentors and empowers learners to reach their full potential. 

Zipporah enjoys traveling, listening to music and she is passionate about empowering young children and helping them build confidence and hope for a better future.
