Impact Highlights: June - October 2025
Transition Home & Child Protection Program
Recently, the Simama Child Protection and Transition Teams have been working tirelessly to safeguard vulnerable children in Nanyuki and the surrounding areas. During the past four months, we received multiple referrals from local government and community partners which led to the rescue of six children from unsafe environments who have been placed at our transition homes for care and protection. Additionally, two children were successfully reintegrated back into loving and caring families after spending time at one of our transition homes. Currently we have 50 kids who are under the care and protection of the Simama Project and are living in one of our two transition homes, where house mothers and Simama staff provide support to ensure children are safe and able to stay in school.
Education Sponsorship Program
Simama was founded with the goal of increasing educational sponsorships for children in need and that goal still guides our Education Sponsorship Program. Through consistent mentorship, engagement with schools and tutoring and social support we ensure that every child under our care not only stays in school but thrives academically, emotionally and socially. As of October 2025, we are proud to share that 240 students are receiving a full-year educational sponsorship which includes school fees, uniforms, food, mentoring/tutoring and other services. This period was focused on preparing our older students to take national exams in November while continuing to help our younger students advance along their academic journey.

Outreach & Life Skills Empowerment Program
Simama’s impact on the Nanyuki community continues to grow as evidenced by the demand for the Simama School Outreach Program which partners with local schools to provide Simama life skills empowerment services to the broader Nanyuki community. This quarter, we successfully conducted 12 sessions, engaging 1,114 participants in local schools covering topics such as self-esteem, time management, dealing with peer pressure, general mental health, relationships and dating/sex, and anonymous open question-and-answer sessions. These sessions are valued by local schools and spark meaningful conversations and empower young people with knowledge and confidence to make informed choices for their future.

Youth Transition Program
The transition program continues to equip our youth with skills for independence and employability with a focus on ensuring Simama students are well-equipped for success beyond the program. Training helps many Simama students transition into becoming young adults by emphasizing skills to obtain and succeed in a job, vocational training or their future academic endeavors. During this quarter, Simama conducted a number of trainings with 22 students participating in:
● Career Guidance Sessions to help them map their future paths
● First Aid Training to build emergency response skills
● Computer Skills Classes to enhance digital literacy
● Internship Placement Process to provide hands-on experience in various fields
